I have been posting the results recently on Facebook, one of my recent images of Cedar and Puppy was shared many many times, and received over 150 likes in a short few days. The NIK suite is a collection of powerful tools which help to create powerful images, render nene possibilities, and create different perspectives of old images. Here is an image captured in 2011 at the Wolf Centre of Haida. Haida was unfortunately released on New Year's eve of 2011/2012 when the enclosure was compromised criminally, and wolves were allowed to escape. I will forever remember Haida - he was one of my favourite wolves at the centre.
I have owned the lensbaby since the very first version. When they changed up the design with the composer, I had thought about getting one, but I was still quite happy using my version 2.0 copy. Then recently when I found out about the Sweet 35 optic with built in aperture - I knew that I had to get one. This image was captured in January of 2013 in the countryside of Ontario, Canada.
For those of you who know me well, you know that I spend a lot of time at Haliburton Forest, and the Wolf Centre. I invest a lot of time in watching and photographing the wolves, because you really never know what is going to happen. Wolves being a wild creature of nature can go from sleeping one moment, to playful the next. The wolves are a joy to watch, and I have learned so much about wolves in the past 9 years of photographing them. This image was of Manitou who died several years ago now, but he will always be one of my favourite. I was inspired by a photograph I saw of a wolf close-up on the cover of B&W magazine. I had to come up with my own version, and Manitou was the perfect subject. Buy your own fine art print of Manitou now, and proudly display him in your home or office for a special price. Please contact me for more details. lxdesign@rogers.com David Sweeney Photography.

In memory of Granite, the Alpha female at the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve Wolf Centre who was recently found wounded on the side of a road not too far away from the centre. She was brought back, and given emergency care, however her wounds and the stress was too great, and she passed away this past week. May her soul rest in heaven along with her brothers and sisters and family mates.David Sweeney Photographyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14947090945718460454noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5259322131253651781.post-91152156780193236532012-11-06T21:52:00.004-08:002012-11-06T21:53:10.779-08:00Haliburton Forest Project 2012

The end of another shooting season in Haliburton Forest has been reached, but not before some spectacular images were captured. This view of the marsh on the Black Creek trail delighted us this past Saturday afternoon as the sun came in and out of the clouds. My Haliburton Forest project has been completed for the 2012 season, but I will be back in the spring to capture more fantastic images, as I explore the vast corners of the forest looking for new scenes and vista's to photograph.

Prints are available of my work! And I am hoping that in the not so distant future, that there will be an exhibition opportunity for my images of the forest. If you would like more information, or to see samples - please feel free to drop me a line at lxdesign@rogers.comDavid Sweeney Photographyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14947090945718460454noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5259322131253651781.post-89091366520859991702012-10-01T18:57:00.002-07:002012-10-01T18:57:11.769-07:004G1G Exhibition: Toronto In Black And WhiteWho is the 4G1G? 4G1G is a collective of 5 photographers from the Beach Photo Club. The name itself means 4 girls and 1 guy... that 1 guy would be me, David Sweeney, and the 4 girls consisting of Sarah Boutillier, Maureen Littlewood, Jeniffer Vieira and Magda Sodzawiczny. The group formed in the spring of 2010 as a critique group, and by the winter of 2012, a suggestion to put on an exhibition as a collective had been tabled. Thanks to Sarah Boutiller, the venue for our upcoming exhibit was found. Please drop by on October 11th anytime between noon and 7pm to see our collective work.
The camera is a compact mirrorless camera which uses interchangeable lenses, and can also adapt to F mount Nikon lenses. This camera produces awesome 10 megapixel images with decent quality for print or web.

A couple of weeks ago while exploring the countryside, we came upon an old church, and my friend Sarah modelled for us with one of the costumes that she has brought.

David Sweeney Photographyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14947090945718460454noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5259322131253651781.post-28243767790157081672012-02-02T13:20:00.000-08:002012-02-02T13:26:17.386-08:00C41 processed Black & White film.I haven't posted anything in a while, so just wanted to quickly share an image. I recently was given some Portra B&W 400ASA C41 film (that's right colour film - but it shoots as black&white). So I went out for a drive with my lovely wife a few weekends ago, and shot off a roll.

THE BEACH 2012 CALENDAR
On September 6th at 7:30 pm at Community Centre 55, the Beach Photo Club, a community non-profit organization, in partnership with Vistek and Community Centre 55, will launch its second-ever professional-quality calendar focused on the Beach community.
Sponsored by Vistek, the calendar is an initiative that will support arts and social services in the Beach community while celebrating the Beach. A portion of each sale will go back to BPC and Community Centre 55 toward their valued programs.
The beautiful pictures in this calendar were taken by BPC members and were juried and selected by a panel of notable local community members. Featuring forty-nine spectacular images of the Beach, this stunning photo product is a practical calendar that emphasizes the seasons in the Beach, and includes photo tips for all who want to sharpen their photographic skills.
The calendar will sell for $20 and is available through club members, Community Centre 55, and selected retailers.
This launch will include an exhibit of the 13 main images, many of the club photographers whose images grace the calendar and some of the individuals who played a key role in the juried selection of the 2012 calendar photos. Please join us to celebrate this unique community endeavour.
